The Wilne 10k road race takes place on Sunday 6th September 2026 at 10am. This is a fast and flat 10km race suitable for all runners.
Race under ARC Rules for Competition – ARC Event Permit 26/0644.
General
Running numbers must be worn for the race and pinned to the front of your running vest. If you don’t have any, some will be available at the Race Information point. It is also a race requirement that you write on the back of your running number your name, address, emergency contact details and any medical conditions. If you have recorded any medical conditions, please mark the front of your running number with a red ‘X’.
Running numbers are non-refundable and non-deferrable. Any athlete found to be running with any number other than that issued to them will be disqualified and may be subject to a ban from RunDerby events.
In accordance with ARC Rules, no one under the age of 15 years on race day will be permitted to participate in the 10k race.
Please refer to the race terms and conditions.
Race Numbers
On entering the race, runners had the option to have their numbers posted out or to be made available for collection on race day. Race numbers are posted out around 1 week before the event and should arrive in the few days before the event. Those to be collected will be available from 8am on race morning from the Information Point in the Race Village. Please review your entry confirmation to see if you have paid for the postage option before contacting us.
If you have an issue with your race number such as it being damaged or lost, you must contact us prior to the cut-off time of 3pm on Saturday 5th September. We may not have chance to deal with reissuing damaged or lost race packs on race day.
Chip Timing (attached to your Race Number)
The race will be using a chip timing system to ensure the runners’ results are as accurate as possible. It is classed as a competitive event so the Derby 10 Mile results, prizes and course records are awarded according to the ‘Gun Time’. When runners cross the start line ‘chip mat’, the timing chip begins to record the time and forms individual runners’ ‘Chip Time’. This is for personal interest and generally what runners base their personal best times on. Both of these times will be published on the official race results page of the website shortly after the race.
The timing chip will be attached to your Race Number – please do not bend or remove it otherwise you will not receive a result. Race Numbers and the attached timing chip do not need to be returned.
Toilet/Changing Facilities
There will be portable toilets located next to the Race Village. Please allow plenty of time to use these facilities as they will become very busy prior to the race. Do not urinate in residents’ gardens or elsewhere.
Race Start
The 10k race will start on Sawley Road at 10am prompt. The start is 800m to the left when leaving the event car park/Race Village. To provide a structured order on the start line, runners will be called to the start area from 9.40am in groups according to race number colours. If you have a yellow number, please be alert around this time as you will be called first. Race number colour allocation its based on predicted finish times and there will be one start wave.
Please be patient at all times in the start area and do not get over-concerned if you have missed your call to the start line. Runners based at the back of the field will be able to see their own personal chip time. Please listen carefully to marshals’ instructions at all time.
Drinks Station
There is one water station on the course around 5km with cups provided to reduce plastic waste and a bottle of water will be provided to all finishers after the finish line. Please refer to the course map here. Please bring your own additional hydration and nutrition to the event. Carrying bottles around the course in bottle belts and hydration backpacks is permitted. Anyone found littering, other than discarding cups around the drinks station may be disqualified.
Race Mementos
After crossing the finish line, runners will be directed to collect a bottle of water. After leaving the finish area, please return back to the Race Information gazebo in the Race Village to collect a technical finishers event t-shirt. Please show your race number when collecting your t-shirt. Whilst we have ordered t-shirts in requested sizes we cannot guarantee your preferred size.
Race Photography & Results
Photos will be taken during the event by Epic Action Imagery and will be on the Wilne 10k website following the event. The results will be compiled by FR Systems and these are expected to be online shortly after the race.
